TAG Heuer Automatic Chronograph Review

When it comes to legendary automatic chronograph wristwatches, other than Omega speedmaster professional, TAG Heuer automatic chronograph should be one of them.  Why? Back to 1969, the first automatic chronograph movement, Calibre 11, was launched.

This new movement was developed by joint venture of Heuer and other companies. At that time, Tag Heuer introduced two new chronograph series, Heuer Monaco and Heuer Autavia, using that automatic chronograph movement. Instead of two old series, let’s have a look at new comers TAG Heuer Link and TAG Heuer Carrera.

TAG Heuer Link

TAG Heuer Link automatic chronograph uses Calibre 16, based on ETA 7750, as the movement. Stainless steel case with fixed stainless steel bezel, together with tachymeter, three subdials for 60 seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours chronograph, are basic TAG Heuer Link construction. The date display in 3 o’clock without overlapping any subdial makes design clearer.

Thanks to S-Link bracelet, comfortable and ergonomics are the signature feature for TAG Heuer Link. Each of the S-Link individual component is fitting nicely and tightly, the edge surfaces are polished well.

TAG Heuer Carrera

TAG Heuer Carrera automatic chronograph is also equipped with Calibre 16, the same as TAG Heuer Link. The case is finished nicely, the pushers and crown are firm and polished well. The are easy to operate.

Although the bracelet is not S-shaped, it is comfortable to wear. Date display offered by TAG Heuer Carrera but not TAG Heuer Link is a nice feature. The bezel material for black dial model (CV2A10.BA0796) is black aluminum that is not as strong as the polished steel used in white dial model (CV2A11.BA0796).

Recommendation

TAG Heuer Link or TAG Heuer Carrera are good chronograph wristwatches. Most of the features are similar. If you have many hair, TAG Heuer Link will be your choice because of the extraordinary S-Link bracelet. Otherwise, pick the one you love the design.
